This settings that you describe influence what Neutron will see as an album, not the sort order.
What I meant was: entry the library ( drill up until you see the categories, eg Artists, Folders, Albums, Songs, then long press the category you use, then Setup, then Sort By.

I take it you didn't manually switch the sort order via the setup in the library ? Default should be album, discnumber, tracknumber. I agree with MotleyG, you might want to check the metadata.

Neutron has 3 volume controls: the preamp, the main software gain and the hardware gain. In your case I think it os the hardware gain that changes after you reboot the device ?
