I am moving to a new phone, and re-installing Neutron. I see benefits listed to using the Generic version on a new Android device, and expect to install the generic version as a result.
I have this question, though: are there any benefits to using the Google Play version?
Thank you, Chris
Player - Google Play vs Generic - Any Benefit to Google Play?
Re: Player - Google Play vs Generic - Any Benefit to Google Play?
- you can simply install and update from the playstore, don't have to give some app the privilege to install, don't need to download manually
- you might actually prefer that nobody ( no other app, not anybody, not you unless you root the device ) can access the app data

Thank you. This helped me to make the decision to go with the generic version for my use case.

I found another benefit:
On my new Android device (Running Android 14), I could not get access to the Neutron Database file. I needed to migrate my old ratings to my new installation. In order to gain access to the database for migrating my ratings, I had to install the Generic version.
