Sound too loud
Sound too loud
When I turn on "Direct USB Access" and play music, the sound will be very loud. I should turn down the volume manually every time. If I turn off "Volume Control" in "Direct USB Access", the volume will be uncontrollable. How can I solve this issue?
Re: Sound too loud
I had the same problem. tried to listen to music at 1 am in a living room of my property in Italy and ended up waking up my kids because the sound was louder than usual. If there is an option to solve this issue please let me know.

@USB-DAC-Users : Is this a general problem for each and every USB-DAC ?

Re: Sound too loud
I just got a USB-C DAC/AMP and immediately experienced the exact same issue you're having with the volume being WAY too loud. To the point where even 5/100 felt like too much.
What fixed it for me was to change the volume slider settings within Neutron to linear mode:
Settings -> Audio Hardware -> Direct USB Access -> Volume Control -> Linear Scale (Enable)
Hope that helps on your end too!

Re: Sound too loud
I use my dragonfly red dac. Does using linear mode off or on change quality? As soon as i turned linear scale on, i had to turn it up way way up more, but i almost feel like it sins better. Am i tripping?

Re: Sound too loud
Human ears hear logarithmically, with regard to both volume and pitch, so a linear scale is only sensibly used for technical purposes. The sound won't be affected by the scale used, provided the same volume is set.
