I have a Synology NAS on my network, and I can only access it via FTP (I'd rather use SMB). I put in the IP address along with my username/password, but it just doesn't see anything. Trying the network view instead of putting in the IP doesn't work either, the SMB's don't show up.
The SMB's show up just fine in VLC so I honestly don't know what's up. The ip is 192.168.0.18/CookieServer1.
No SMB's in Neutron: Show up just fine in VLC:

What version of SMB is this ? I think Neutron only support version 1 - feel free to ask neutronmp@gmail.com for clarification.

Thank you! I checked SMB advanced setting and by default the minimum supported was SMB2. I switched it to SMB1 and my NAS shows up properly in the network view now.
This also helped with an issue I noticed after posting originally- unicode characters (like ö, etc) would cause the album/song to just not show up in the library. I quess FTP is just unable to process names like that. SMB fixes this, thank you so much for pointing out that only SMB1 is supported!

Network Folder empty
Hi all
First of all, I'm looking for a player that won't only play one file in a folder but will go through the folder one after another by itself.
If Neutron can't do that, then skip the rest and just let me know that it's a lost cause for me anyway
I downloaded the Eval version to test and I'm running into a problem.
I'm not giving up on it just yet and I hope you can help me so I can than support the project by buying it.
The situation: I have a Windows computer with a shared folder (SMB) called "Music" that contains thousands of subfolders and about 30'000 songs.
Now I would like to read those folders and files via the network source option in Neutron. Pretty standard thing.
Since the Network View only displays my NAS and not my computer (tried several times) I have to add the library manually.
Well I don't know if I'm missing something but here is how far I'm getting:
1. Add source, choose "Network", hit + button
2. In "Address" I put in: 192.168.188.10\Music (if I only put in the IP I can't select it after adding it), "Login" = <username-of-pc>, PW = <PW-of-user>
3. The source shows up underneath "Network View" --> klick it
4. It shows a folder called Music --> select it --> hit the tick
5. I get to an overview and hit "Sources"
6. It shows the following source:
Name: Music
smb://192.168.188.10/Music
<clef> 0
"REFRESH" is selected
7. Now what??
I can click the symbol next to it (looks like a database symbol or so) and the color will change from blue (I think, not good with colors) to red and the "REFRESH" button disappears.
If I go back to the overwiew it shows "Playlists", "Artists", "Albums" and so on. They all show 0 content.
Where it says "Folder" it shows 1. If I click it it gives me the following:
All Folders
/...
<file-symbol> 0
So... How can I access all my folders now?? It's driving me nuts because I tried like 7 other players and was always able to add the SMB share but the players were just shitty and would only play one track at a time.
Thanks for any help and keep the peace !!

Re: SMB doesn't work, only FTP works. VLC has no issue detecting SMB.
Me, too.
My FreeNAS server is not detected by Neutron Player app, but VLC and/or MiXplorer can connect to its network shares.
FreeNAS minimum SMB version is set by default to 2.0.
I can change the setting, but SMBv1 is somehow deprecated.
So I hope that Neutron will be upgraded to support newer SMB versions.

Yes, that's a known issue. Feel free to inform neutronmp@gmail.com about your concerns.

Full instructions to implement a successful Windows Shared folder for Neutron to add to Media Library.
