Support for "Disk" tag ?
Re: Support for "Disk" tag ?
As to the files and their quality : the sampling rate is 96 kHz, both Neutron's spectum analyzer and Audacity show strange things :
None of my business of course ... but did you buy these as high-resolution-audio ? Looks like they had been imperfectly transformed from lower quality ... but then Neutron and Audacity might be mistaken ...

Re: Support for "Disk" tag ?
@PenguinMusic I'm glad to see that you were able to get this sorted out. The earlier suggestions prior to finding out that you were using a DLNA source were all based on having your music stored locally on your device. Your posts all referenced both folders and files, so that was where the assumptions and confusion came from, at least on my part.PenguinMusic wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 6:05 amCan it be that the problems are because the files are stored on network via UPNP/DLNA ?
I'll try to store them locally...

Hi Blaubär,
Those files have been bought and downloaded from Qobuz.
Weird behavior indeed.
especially as, if I listen to those files I think they sound quite "spectacular"
MotleyG,
Yeah... I did not mentioned taht the files were played from a NAS using a DMS as I am so used to that, tjhat I really naively think that is obvious.
But what goes without saying alway goes better being said !
Lesson learned from my side
Sill facing a new problem, but that is another threrad

Interesting ... it's a mix of 48 kHz and 96 kHz sampling rates :PenguinMusic wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 5:46 pmThose files have been bought and downloaded from Qobuz.

Re: Support for "Disk" tag ?
Yep, that has been upsampled, and they forgot to apply the low-pass-filter :
If I had paid for that I'd complain, both because they upsampled ( instead of extracting from higher-sampled sources ) and because they didn't do it properly.PenguinMusic wrote: ↑Mon Mar 06, 2023 5:46 pmThose files have been bought and downloaded from Qobuz.

Re: Support for "Disk" tag ?
Hi,
Thanks a lot for the info.
I can report this to Qobuz, but I know for sure that Qobuz only provides files "as they are" given by the disk company.
So Qobuz is not to blame but the producer of the files...
I am sure Qobuz will not give a refund (they never do) but offer me 2 or 3 free albums for free to download.
Besides, did you give those tracks a listen ?
Don't you find they sound really good ?
There goes the "hi-res audio" myth
I sometimes listen to complete set of Sympfonies by Beethoven, conducted by Rene LEIBOWITZE and recorded back in 196x.
Those tracks sound amazing...
Regards.

Re: Support for "Disk" tag ?
Hi,
As a follow up to the initial subject of this thread, I would like to add that I had some other problems with track sorting.
It seems that a long press on "All tracks" allows to call up a menu that will show a way to display tracks and that sometimes helps.
BUT : unless I am not doing things correctly, if I ask my Albums to be displayed by Date/album, that has ZERO effect on the sorting of the albums. They stay presented alphabetically.
It is not always simple to understand (in Neutron) if a setting applies everywhere or just to the selected window...
Also it seems that those setting do not have an immediate effect. But not a problem...
Do you guys notice any change in sort order when you select "Year/Album" as an album sorting ?
Regards.

Yes, the music is great !PenguinMusic wrote: ↑Tue Mar 07, 2023 5:34 pmBesides, did you give those tracks a listen ?

As my limit of transparency is at about 160 kbit/s ( what today is average mp3 ) I don't hear the difference between that and anything better anyway
Re: Support for "Disk" tag ?
Depends on the option you choose. Indeed not all work. I can sort the last-played-playlist by album, that works .PenguinMusic wrote: ↑Tue Mar 07, 2023 5:38 pmDo you guys notice any change in sort order when you select "Year/Album" as an album sorting ?

Re: Support for "Disk" tag ?
Hi Blaubär,
Limit of transparency at 160kbps ? That is really low...
Me, I've always said taht I would be hard pressed to tell the difference between a .mp3 encoded at max bit rate (I think that would be 320kbps) and a 16/44 .flac. At least today...
When I was younger (I am now 52 years old) I could tell a .mp3 apart from a .wav file any time. Even encoded in 320kbps. But that was when the mp3 codec was in it's early stages.
Hell, at that time I was even able to distinguish a 16/44 track from a 24/96 track. Blind testing and 100% success.
Today, I think the codecs have made huge progress and indeed, telling apart a .mp3 encoded at 320kbps and a 24/48 .flac is difficult and is more a wild guess for me ! Partly due to my now more scarse audition
It can be taht in those past years, the MP3 codec still made progress and such the 160kbps encoding is now superb.
But for the sake of it, I take 24/48 files and, when available, 24/96. I have like 120TB of storage available, so we on earth would I care to take .mp3 ?
As far as I am concerned, I like my albums to be displayed from oldest to newest. I had that when I was using Emby as a DMS. Not with Plex anymore Despite the fact that I have selected to index my music library with albums sorted by date
I hoped that Neutron could use that order sorting... Maybe a conflict with Plex ? But the weird thing is that albums do indeed display the release date... so it should be able to sort them by date I think. But indexing a library like mine with Plex takes like 1.5 days. So I'll leave it to that
Regards.
