High freq clicks on ibasso dx240

Post by spacedrone808 » Fri Mar 10, 2023 5:22 am

At first i thought that it was a clipping distortions caused by too big preamp. After turning it off problem persisted.
Now i'm thinking that this happens due to pcm to dsd conversion which i setup earlier. Dsd is set to native, 128, mqa x4. Soc is snapdragon 660, quite neat for dap, performance should be enough, but who knows....

Anyone run into such issues with clicks'n'pops?

I’m using Neutron on a DX160, and do not hear anything like what you have described.

Do you use the pcm-to-dsd conversion ?

I will check this later today with the conversion on and off. But I do wonder in this case of converting from PCM to DSD what the potential benefit would be? Every DAC I can think of that handles DSD can certainly also do PCM already. Why strain the CPU of the device for this prior to passing the signal off to the DAC?

There's the theoretical possibility that the pcm-to-dsd conversion that Neutron does might be superior to the one that the DAC does ... a rather long shot, I agree :D .
