Clip Protection, Is that available?
Hi friends
I use a 4 band parametric equalizer, with the following settings.
Band 1, Low shelf - 100Hz, Q = 1.5 & Gain = 5dB
Band 2 - None
Band 3 - None
Band 4 -, High Shelf - 6000Hz, Q = 1.5 & Gain = 5dB
With this settings how do I make sure that over clipping will not occuer?
Is there an option for clip protection in Neutron?
Apprecite you help here. Cheers

Re: Clip Protection, Is that available?
Yes, there is the Automatic Gain Protection .
In your example: reducing the preamp by 5dB might work as well.navarannan wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 1:19 amI use a 4 band parametric equalizer, with the following settings.

Thanks for this. Reset on new track setting is a bit confusing.blaubär wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 4:55 amYes, there is the Automatic Gain Protection .

Should I enable it or disable it if I want the clip protection to remain for all tracks played.
Re: Clip Protection, Is that available?
For the protection to take place that doesn't matter. If you activate reset and AGP has to act then the dynamically activated preamp will be reset at the beginning of the next track, meaning that if this track also turns out to produce clipping AGP will act again as it did for the previous track. If you don't reset then this preamp setting will stay, meaning that even if the next track doesn't need an adapted preamp it will have it anyway.navarannan wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 8:05 amReset on new track setting is a bit confusing.

IMHO it might be easier to use plan B: explicitly set the preamp to prevent the clipping in the first place.

Another possibility would be Neutron's normalization function :
Re: Clip Protection, Is that available?
I'd like to point out that the pre-amp gain upon next track doesn't always reset to the set level. I'd need to fiddle more to reproduce steps, but it often only resets to the set level if the previous track has played in its entirety. If a track is skipped, oftentimes the previous AGP adjustment remains exactly.
Re: Clip Protection, Is that available?
Perhaps that depends on "Settings > User Interface > Rewind Track" :WitzyZed wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 6:27 pmI'd like to point out that the pre-amp gain upon next track doesn't always reset to the set level. So you could check whether the reset taking place depends on the threshold for the track's progress having been reached.
Re: Clip Protection, Is that available?
My rewind track % is set to a value of 2. So not the hardest threshold to meet.blaubär wrote: ↑Thu May 18, 2023 4:40 amPerhaps that depends on "Settings > User Interface > Rewind Track" :WitzyZed wrote: ↑Wed May 17, 2023 6:27 pmI'd like to point out that the pre-amp gain upon next track doesn't always reset to the set level.
