Player Locks Up on Windows 11

Hello!

I just downloaded and installed the latest version of NeutronPlayer (2.24.2).

When I run it for the first time, I specify the language and then the "Music Source" screen is displayed.
I can't select either Automatic or Manual and can't proceed from this screen.

Windows displays the message "Program is not responding" and I have to use the Task Manager to end the process.

Is there anything that I can try to get it working?

Perhaps you've got Android version above 10, updated Neutron from Google Play Store and the last update had been a long time ago.
Solution: download generic version and/or create SAF source.

Thanks for your comment, but I'm not using the Android version of the Player. I asked about the Windows version.

You could allow the app to run in the background.

What happens if you use the explorer and try to open a music file with the app ?

Unfortunately not. The player always goes to the "Music Source" screen and I can't go any further.

The PC where I'm having problems is Windows 11. I just installed the Player on my Windows 10 laptop and it works fine.

Could there be something about Windows 11 that is causing the problem?

I doubt it. It works with my Windows 11. I suggest you ask neutronmp@gmail.com for further analysis.

hello. this seems to be the most appropriate thread for my issue. i've been running Neutron on my Win10 for the past nearly 2 years outputting via USB to a Topping E30II DAC. I was able to run DSD via .wv files without any issue.

recently, and using the same rev/environment, I realized Neutron was no longer playing DSD files but converting them to PCM. again, settings hadn't changed nor anything else in my Win10 environment.

I have since uninstalled the version and have tried a number of times to install and run the latest Windows Neutron Player (2.24.2 64bit). I am able to install but unable to run the app. everytime I try, it shows up but never actually opens.

what am i doing wrong? any help extremely appreciated!

That's the default behaviour, can be changed via "Settings > Audio Hardware > DSD, DSD over PCD (DoP)", isn't supported by all DACs.

I merged your topic into another one that complains about Windows, version 11 in this case. If you're sure that you've given every permission etc to the app and it still doesn't start, I suggest you ask neutronmp@gmail.com for further analysis.

thanks for your reply and merge.

however, the first part of your reply is incorrect/does not pertain to me here. as I stated, I was successfully using NMP with my DAC (even transcoding DSD from .wv on the fly) without incident. it just recently started f'ing up (despite my efforts to reset/set the DSD settings....i know the app well, fyi).

really hoping we can get some help here. or at very least, find a link to re-install an older version and see if I can get that working.
