I mailed support long ago, and I referred them to this specific thread. This is why I am now posting updates.

Neutron using SFTP does not work at all on my 2023 Sony Xperia. It does support its built-in external SD Card though. The app now constantly freezes at start-up. Previous versions used to work with this same SFTP server on my previous Sony Xperia PRO-I. This is the first time using Neutron on my newer Sony Xperia 1 V.

I am trying this on my Samsung S8 Ultra tablet now. It is scanning SFTP files now just like the Sony Xperia did. It is the same SFTP server and same content. This will execute all day at only 120 files scanned so far. This is a huge tablet that is WiFi only. It has 16GB of memory and tons of storage space. It also has a 1TB SD card plugged in. I also configured Neutron for unrestricted battery usage on the Samsung tablet. Using a different device will tell if it is a code issue or a hardware compatibility issue

There were updates to the network programming for the curent version ... well, feel free to pester the developer again, it should be possible to use an sftp server.

Again, I will repeat -- support was linked to this thread specifically. This information is directly shared with them.

The beauty of this is that is now a known issue that others will also find and know SFTP simply does not work at all.

This is better than sweeping defects under the rug. Agree?

I'm not sure I have much that will assist your query other than I have been using SFTP for a few years now. It took a number of tries for the scan to complete - this was frustrating and your story brings those memories back.

However, once the scan was complete (22k files approx), it has been running solidly. I have not lost data in the various updates since. Though I do keep a backup of the db files in the neutronmp folder in case.
