Perhaps download and try the USB_NO_DEF apk ?
Special package for 64-bit ARM CPUs (ARMv8) CPUs with NEON/NEON64 optimization. Targets Android 9 (API 28) and thus less restricted by OS. With this version OS will not ask the permission to access USB DAC by default even if Audio Hardware -> Direct USB Driver option is switched off. OS will not ask to make Neutron the default app for USB DAC either.

Sure, i've installed this APK. Otherwise when i used the default APK - Android displays two dialogs, first - which app to use, second - allow access to USB DAC.
