"Follow source Freq." review

Post by kentajalli » Sat Jan 13, 2018 9:02 pm

Now that we have outboard DAC's and new phones capable of sampling frequencies even up to 384kHz and source materials from 44kHz up to DSD - isn't it time that the facility "Follow Source Frequency" be controllable too.
I mean there should be a control to say "follow source frequency" if more than 88.2kHz or so, so that lower sampling frequencies be upscaled, but higher ones be left alone.
For one higher sampling frequencies do not benefit, and secondly it saves precious CPU power and battery.

As there is no benefit to upsampling as well it can stay as it is. BTW, I use Neutron with external DAC and 768 kHz for more than a year...you're a bit late to the party...
