Request: Different look for different playlists

Post by Alberto » Thu Jun 04, 2020 2:27 pm

I use Neutron with scanning iTunes for Mac on iPod 7. Generation iOS 13.4. In iTunes I have Smart Playlists, Playlists and Playlist Folders. It would be helpful if the different Playlists would look different. Thanks.

That would mean introducing different playlists ( meaning a set of criteria one then can use to differentiate playlists ) in the first place

I come back to my old request: It would be so much more comfortable if Playlist folders, Smart Playlists and Playlists would have a different icon (symbol) in Neutron. It's possible in iOS with iTunes and Apple Music.

As far as I know, only the windows version of Neutron has the ability to edit icons.

However, you do have the option to change playlist viewing style:

You can have Neutron show album art as well.

Go to your main library page and tap and hold "playlist". Here is when you can change the view, which looks like this (my album art hasn't updated as I did this just recently):

Thank you for your hints, but as you have noted, this is not the solution for my request. All types of playlists look the same (Playlists, Smart Playlists and Playlist folders).

Good idea! Tried it ... but it doesn't show the album art of the album but the image that is present in the playlists-folder, at least on my PC.

On the other hand ... perhaps that's just what's needed ... if the playlist havn't been created in Neutron but scanned from some directory ... should be possible to give playlist from different directories different pictures

And how exactly did you do that?

I put an image into Neutron's playlist directory :

Now a thumbnail of this image is shown instead of the usual icon.
Btw : I havn't activated Settings > Media Library > Prefer Metadata Album Art.
And the idea would be, if the different types of playlist files that one would want to distinguish should reside in different directories, to put different images into theses directories.

Try doing the method blaübar mentioned, works for me on android. Should work on ios as well. You may have to do one image per playlist, idk yet. If that's the case, each playlist will need to be in it's own directory.

> Find an image for each playlist type (smart, etc)
> Differentiate your playlist types with folders
> Put image in the same file path as your playlist file type
> Refresh the contents via the playlist refresh button

If that doesn't work:
> You may need to add the file path to the media library refresh which is settings - media library - sources - + on bottom
> Refresh the contents via the playlist refresh button

Hopefully that helps :D
