crossfeed - bauer or meier ?
crossfeed - bauer or meier ?
In Neutron we can activate crossfeed. This implements the so-called Bauer stereophonic-to-binaural DSP. There is another implementation Meier Crossfeed which does things a bit differently, this is used for example by the foobar2000 music player.
The question arises : what's the better way to to this, what are the differences ?
As far as I can tell Bauer just does for headphones what playing the music with speakers would do. Which has the necessary and desired consequence that the sound from both channels interferes, which leads to certain attenuations of a mono signal or the mono parts of a stereo signal. Which according to Meier is not necessary and should be avoided, which the Meier Crossfeed then does.
I would say that the way Meier does things is rather a sound improvement then a high-fidelity-implementation because he assumes that if you just play the music from ideal speakers then that's not good enough and should be improved.
Any thoughts on the matter, any experience with crossfeed ?

Re: crossfeed - bauer or meier ?
Based on my listening experiences, Bauer DSP makes sound less expansive, less dynamic and more boring. I guess Meier DSP may be more helpful. Eager to try when available.
Re: crossfeed - bauer or meier ?
Okay, whatever ... Meier crossfeed and Bauer crossfeed are different ... we might as well propose to implement the Meier crossfeed as a further option. I'll move the topic to development.

Yes, please. Thanks a bunch! I highly appreciate that. I did try various existing crossfeed settings but was never satisfied.
I am willing to pay annual fee of subscription for my favourite and day by day bettered music app since 2012 for Neutron team's dedicated hard work. There are moments in my life that make me happy. Those are when I am listening to my music via Neutron!
For those who may accidentally visit this post: my eq (10 band) setting is 5 3.5 2.2 1.2 0.2 2 2 2.2 3.5 5. This helps your music sound natural with right enough bass, high fidel vocal and a bit relaxed (without peak) high. When EQed, Neutron is better than UAPP or PowerAmp/ JetAudio, if you care, in term of naturalness, high fidelity and pureness (clarity) of music.
My iems include Fiio FH7, JVC HA FD01SP, Sony Mdr Ex1000, Sony IER M9, ATH CKR100is (recabled), AKG K3003, AKG N5005 (not good), Sennheiser IE800, Shozy BK, K's 500, K's 300 earphone. My headphones include Sennheiser HD600, Shure SRH1840, Hifiman HE560.
Best regards,

Yes, like the first one. I also enable normalization for each of my music folders, each folder is a full album. This function helps avoid any clipping at peak. Music is still dynamic but smooth and analog. Try it and you may discover new sound from your existing music.
