Auto sample rate conversion to 44.1/48
Auto sample rate conversion to 44.1/48
Hi.
Please tell me how to make Neutron autoconvert 96 and 192 kHz samplerate to 48 kHz, and 88.2 / 176.4 - to 44.1 respectively?
I use Amanero 384 Combo USB, which has two resonators on board and switches between them depending on frequency grid.
But my DAC can play only 44.1 / 48 khz.
I tried to use Generic Driver - Custom Format, then checked 44100 + 48000, but no luck.
When checked "Follow source frequency" and "Frequency" to "Default" - it plays 96 kHz file with no change. When unchecked "Follow source frequency" - outputs 44.1 as default, which is a quality loss.
I use Android 10.
Thank you for assistance.

Re: Auto sample rate conversion to 44.1/48
That isn't possible right now. Let's make this a development proposal :
Situation: Neutron can resample to a fixed sampling rate, or oversample / multiply by a factor of 2, 4 etc, but has no option to downsample ( or upsample for that matter, the problem also occurs with oversampling e.g. when the DAC dosen't support both 96 kHz and 88.4 kHz ) only to rates using these factors.
Problem: not a grave one ( minimal loss of quality ) but nevertheless optimizable
Proposal: add another option so that Neutron only resamples if the ratio of the sampling rates is a multiple of 2
That would be what you want ?

Yes, i think it is the right option, thank you.
I just thought that it's already implemented in Neutron, but i missed it somewhere in settings.

This somewhat ties into this request: viewtopic.php?f=4&t=6070&sid=0d7b7ca4a1 ... 9272f0ebad
To OP, if your files are formatted as FLAC, an additional two tags will lock output to specific frequency for those files, as detailed in later posts in that thread.

Re: Auto sample rate conversion to 44.1/48
The possibly simple solution can be an editable list of desired resample pairs "from - to", like this:
44100 -> 44100
48000 -> 48000
88400 -> 44100
96000 -> 48000
etc
44100 -> 44100
48000 -> 48000
88400 -> 44100
96000 -> 48000
etc
Re: Auto sample rate conversion to 44.1/48
That would require a tow-dimensional-matrix to be shown and edited ... certainly possible but surely more complicated than an additional option to restrict resampling ratios ( or their inverse ) to multiples of 2.
Re: Auto sample rate conversion to 44.1/48
Thanks to developers - now it's released as Frequency limit in Oversampling )))
I set multiplier to 2 and limit to 48000, now 88.2k downsamples to 44.1k and 96k to 48k.
