Hello, and congratulations for amazing neutron player.
I've thought of adding support for youtube playback via streaming, supporting playlists for example. It could download to a library or temp location.
It could use youtube-dl program.

That might be a legal problem. Google's business model depends on that this isn't done. Even if it were techically feasible I rather doubt that the developer would implement it. But he'll read your proposal ...

Feature Request: Apple Music support

Looks like Apple has a MusicKit API that says this:

"MusicKit lets users play Apple Music and their local music library from your app or website. When users provide permission to access their Apple Music account, they can use your app or website to create playlists, add songs to their library, and play any of the millions of songs in the Apple Music catalog. If your app detects that the user is not yet an Apple Music member, you can offer a trial membership from within your app."

This would be amazing if Apple Music could be added as a source to Neutron.

The benefit to this would of course be being able to use Neutron's powerful PEQ with Apple's full catalog of music, and now Apple Music is all available in Lossless (for a decent price too) which seems like a great fit for Neutron.

So let's generalize this: Neutron as a client for closed streaming services like apple, amazon, spotify, youtube. And it seems that apple would like other apps to do that and makes it easy for them.

On one hand, it looks like Apple is ready to cooperate with other companies and their products to facilitate integration, but on the other hand, it sounds like your player then enters a form of "feudal relation" with Apple and its programs...

I rather doubt that this is possible. The business model of streaming services generally expects the user to utilize the service provider's app. You can try Neutron's streaming module, that works for internet radio.

Hi y'all!
I'm an old school old fart trying to put my FrankenMusic system together. Bought my first Advent speakers from Henry Kloss RIP
I have 1tb of 16bit+ flac files but I like YTM a lot.
I want to be able to process the music ala dsp so there must be some method to connect them. Please give a bro a hand up!

That's not a valid conclusion. You want it, but Google doesn't. So Google restricts access to its service. Which btw most commercial streaming platforms do.

I merged several topics into one, renamed it and put that into the development-forum. Perhaps there is a way to legally tap into YT, Apple Music or Spotify.
