Level monitoring

Post by MKmagic » Wed Jul 06, 2022 3:43 pm

Hi colleagues!
I don't know if you'll all agree with me, but in my opinion level monitoring during recording is critically important. And while it would be nice to have an elegant, pleasing to the eye and still preferably evocative indicator, it is more important to have an indicator that we know what it shows. When recording digitally, however, one of the most important elements is nevertheless the peak level.

From my modest thirty-five years of experience as a cinematographer and editor, pointer indicators are nice, pleasing to the eye, but LED bars work better. Peak memory, overdrive alarm and many other useful features can be implemented very easily and clearly.

What do you think? Would this be good in a recorder that has ambitions to be professional and Hi-End?

P.S.
Of course, I only pasted the illustrations to make it prettier and to more or less illustrate what I am writing about.
