Far down into this review it is relayed (albeit with incorrect terminology) that output over 3.5mm on this device is limited to 16bit.

Re: Motorola One Plus no Hi Res audio
Yes, Indeed :
In our review, however, the audio output from both the mono loudspeaker and the headphone jack was limited to a maximum sampling rate of 16-bit as opposed to 24-bit output on some competitors including the POCO X2.
Re: Motorola One Plus no Hi Res audio
You can ask neutronmp@gmail.com though - perhaps Neutron CAN support this device but the occasion just didn't arrive in the past to implement it.
Re: Motorola One Plus no Hi Res audio
should I root the device?
Re: Motorola One Plus no Hi Res audio
Your phone's audio policy configuration file is titled audio_policy_configuration.xml and is located in /system/etc
That directory, /system/etc may not be exposed in any generic file manager without superuser permissions.
If you're curious about it you can try to root your device, but I don't think it will unlock any capabilities by doing that alone.

It won't, but it might give insight into whether it SHOULD work, if you can read it.WitzyZed wrote: ↑Thu Jan 14, 2021 10:21 pmYour phone's audio policy configuration file is titled audio_policy_configuration.xml and is located in /system/etc

And you could send it to the developer in case he hasn't been able to work on that device yet.
Re: Motorola One Plus no Hi Res audio
My collection is 16/44.1 do I really need hi res enabled in Neutron for best quality?
Re: Motorola One Plus no Hi Res audio
No, there's no real need. Just using defaults would be the easiest way. That should activate high-res if it is supported on your phone. In that case Neutron would set the Frequency to Default, avoid resampling to 48 kHz and stick to 44.1 kHz. That would be slightly beneficial for both quality and cost.
Re: Motorola One Plus no Hi Res audio
Output seems to be resampled to 48000
