Cannot get URLs to play radio streams

Post by gssheard » Thu Aug 15, 2013 6:47 pm

Hi,

I can't get Neutron to play my radio streams and this is the only thing I bought the app for.

These ones i've tried and they won't work. What am I doing wrong? I just type the below into the URL bit and then it says 'failed'.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/player/bbc_6music

and

http://www.franceculture.fr/player

There's a page with network selection that comes up but i've no idea what that wants it just has something that says 0.0.0.0.

My wifi should just work automatically as it did to get the app in the first place and pay for it.

Any ideas?

Hi!

The links you provided are referencing HTTP front-end of music players of those internet streaming services. It is done in order to hide the direct link to the audio stream so that user would be forced to use provided front-end only.

Neutron needs link to the audio stream or playlist of the stream to be able to play it (any other player will need it too). Here is example of such link: http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r2.asx

You could also try extracting links to the audio from podcast XMLs (support for podcasts in to-do):

For example if you view:
http://radiofrance-podcast.net/podcast09/rss_11701.xml

There are audio links:
<enclosure url="http://rf.proxycast.org/m/media/2960962 ... 3725-0.mp3" length="52040672" type="audio/mpeg"/>

You need to input as URL in Neutron://rf.proxycast.org/m/media/296096201420.mp3?c=culture&p=CULTURES+MONDE_11701&l3=20121126&l4=&media_url=http%3A%2F%2Fmedia.radiofrance-podcast.net%2Fpodcast09%2F11701-26.11.2012-ITEMA_20423725-0.mp3

Best regards,
Dmitry.

Many thanks Dimitry. I'm not well versed in computers, but think this might be a common problem for computing novices, so your explanation is much appreciated, not available elsewhere on the web regarding Neutron as far as I can see, so this should be helpful to many.

I am having the same problem on my iPhone 6 running iOS 9.0.1.

For instance, I am trying to add radio station KCBS I have also tried iheartradio.com and pandora.com). On my laptop, the URL is showing as: http://player.radio.com/listen/station/ ... am-1069-fm. After entering that URL in the streaming section of Neutron, and try to play it, the player just shows as loading. I am unable to find the URL needed to stream the station. Any suggestion or help is appreciated. I must be doing something wrong.

Thanks in advance.

I am unable to get stream information to "stick". After entering and pushing the checkmark, all information is wiped out.

Tried to enter in xml, but cannot see correct format to get stream to show in player.

Is anyone able to share the successful XML code that causes a stream to show up in player?

to get those damn links, install firefox, play a radio stream, and then rightclick over the file that you are playing and select "inspect element" at botton. you gnna get a window on the same page, with some bunch of options, dont mind over those, just scroll untill you see an address, it will sometimes give you an ip address, port and playlist filename extension. use that for your player. happy streaming :)
