I have a lot of 24bit FLAC music in my library at 48/96/192 k.
On a Galaxy S5 does Neutron convert 24bit to 16bit to feed the DAC?
I see that the signal is downsampled to 48k but what about the bit width is 16 bit the default?
Should I use the 32-bit output option to ensure I am getting 24bits of resolution or is the default setting fine.
Thanks,
Leonid

Re: 32-bit output audio hw tab
Product support is VERY poor here but I will attempt to answer your question.
All android phones (including Galaxy S5) output sound at 16-bit resolution. There are no 24-bit DAC android phones whatsoever.
However I do hear a noticeable increase in sound quality when I use output at 32-bits function. I have a Galaxy S4 and play 24-bit files on it and I do notice an increase in quality outputting at 32-bits even though final output is at 16-bits (including your phone). Make sure you use dither in Neutron MP for maximum quality. This function will dither (ie. accurately round up or down the numbers) to 16-bit from any resolution you are playing. Plus use 64-bit processing and do not use generic driver for even greater quality.
Hope this helps. I'm not a developer here or associated with this site. I am just a user.

Thanks for some good info. Not sure why you get improved quality at 32-bit output if the DAC feed is 16bit.
I guess I will stick to the setting you mentioned and listen to some music:) I am pretty happy with the S5 output on my Sennheiser S4s
Neutron seems to make a noticeable improvement in SQ over the stock android player.

I guess I am wrong. At one time I looked up for phones that could play 24-bit files and read that android is 16-bit only. Obviously though this has changed.flashmp3 wrote:What about :
