Files not being catalogged
Lumia 950XL. Ive deleted and re-added an album and rescanned and it still will not be seen by NP. Im on version 2.21.5.0 updated on 12/12. I can see it in the File Explorer and it will play in Groove if i select it, but Groove doesnt see it either.
Re: Files not being catalogged
Where is the folder and files for this album located? It needs to be in a sub folder that Neutron has access to, if you are on a recent version on Android that uses SAF.FurballZen wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 3:06 amLumia 950XL. Forgot to mention, i watch the scanning and see NP scan the folder/album, but it still wont show up.

Then there might be problems with the metadata / tags - do you use any ? See here .FurballZen wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 4:13 amForgot to mention, i watch the scanning and see NP scan the folder/album, but it still wont show up.

I use MP3Tag. but double checking the tags it looks like they might be for the wrong album, but that shouldnt stop it from showing up at all, it just wouldnt show where i expected it to show. Im gonna re-rip the discs and make sure they are correct.blaubär wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 5:26 amThen there might be problems with the metadata / tags - do you use any ? You Are correct, I didn't pause to recall that this was a Windows device. My bad there, apologies.FurballZen wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 4:13 amNot sure how you think i have an Android.

But back to the issue - if Neutron is truly not finding these tracks at all, what filetype are these? Any of the standards like mp3/m4a/flac/dsd/etc.?
And since you just responded to suggest the tags may actually have the wrong album info - do the songs show up under that album name in Neutron?
Re: Files not being catalogged
Yes, that's a good program. I suggest you make sure you have albumartist, artist, album, title, track and year sensibly filled:FurballZen wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 2:04 pmI use MP3Tag. but double checking the tags it looks like they might be for the wrong album, but that shouldnt stop it from showing up at all, it just wouldnt show where i expected it to show. Then you can differentiate between album artist and artist, that's imho a good thing.
Re: Files not being catalogged
Agreed, I have been using mp3tag for a very long time, and every player I have ever used has been able to read the tags written.
I do appreciate that Neutron has an option to differentiate AlbumArtist versus Artist. But I do wish for a future option to have both lists available for browsing rather than the current method of having to choose one or the other.

I only have wav and MP3 on the card, this folder is MP3. That album doesnt show anywhere but the File Explorer. Its like the whole folder is ignored.MotleyG wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 2:26 pmBut back to the issue - if Neutron is truly not finding these tracks at all, what filetype are these? Re: Files not being catalogged
Maybe try updating the tags, including making a change to the Album name as well as the folder it is stored in. See if that makes it visible to Neutron at that point.FurballZen wrote: ↑Mon Dec 19, 2022 4:32 pmI only have wav and MP3 on the card, this folder is MP3. Have you checked the files for possible errors? Neutron won't catalog or play a file that is unplayable due to corruption. This could be from a bad header, unplayable stream, or other causes. There are some suggestions on the mp3tag forum for ways to check and possibly correct some problems using tools like mp3diags, mp3val, and even foobar. Worst case, are you able to get a fresh rip of this album?
