Q: How do I backup/restore Neutron's settings?

A: Neutron Console helps you backup and then restore all your Neutron Player or Neutron Recorder settings (including equalizer presets, themes, internal playlists and etc.).

The process of backup/restore is a complex task and is platform dependent but Neutron Console hides all the complexity and allows to backup all settings with a couple of clicks. The backup is prepared and provided to your web-browser as a ZIP file. You can then restore these settings on the same device, or even another device, so basically you can copy all settings from one device to another, even running Neutron on different platforms.

Backup/restore operations involve the use of the network server and its resources, therefore it is a paid service but at a very affordable price. You can subscribe for the backup/restore functionality for 1 month and do as many backup/restore operations as you need. It is possible to omit auto-renew, therefore you can subscribe again if you need to backup settings now and then restore them in a several months time.

What you need:

  1. NeutronID (check how to create it in Q: How do I create NeutronID?)
  2. Access to the Internet for your device running Neutron Player or Neutron Recorder app
  3. Web browser on the same device or any other device or PC to access Neutron Console web site: https://console.neutroncode.com

Backup process:

  1. Switch on pin-button on NeutronID entry in Neutron app → Settings. This operation connects Neutron app to Neutron Console.
  2. Login to Neutron Console (https://console.neutroncode.com) with your NeutronID.
  3. Go to menu → Devices → find your connected device in the list of your known devices → click on device entry.
  4. Click on Backup button to ask Neutron app to archive its settings and send to your web-browser as ZIP file.
  5. Once progress reaches 100% click on Download button to download ZIP file with all Neutron's settings (you can further inspect its contents to find out what was zipped).
  6. Backup process is completed. 

Restore process:

  1. Switch on pin-button on NeutronID entry in Neutron app → Settings. This operation connects Neutron app to Neutron Console.
  2. Login to Neutron Console (https://console.neutroncode.com) with your NeutronID.
  3. Go to menu → Devices → find your connected device in the list of your known devices → click on device entry.
  4. Click on Restore button → provide ZIP file to the prompt → click Upload.
  5. Once progress reaches 100% the process of settings restoration is completed.
  6. Neutron app will attempt to self-restart on Android and Windows Win32 platforms. On all other platforms close Neutron app and start it again.
  7. Restore process is completed.
